These two may be the most in-demand iPhones of the year
NEW DELHI: Before the launch of the 2019 iPhones, not much was expected from the lineup. More and more rumours were pouring in about the 2020 iPhones — even before the 2019 iPhones got a launch date — that made everyone one bet more on the next year’s lineup. But all that changed after the Cupertino-based tech giant unveiled the three new iPhones — iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Analysts have already revised their forecast of the expected number of iPhone units the company is going to ship this year and now a report by Nikkei Asian Review suggests that Apple has asked the suppliers to increase their production of the entire iPhone 11 range by up to 10% which is 8 million units. This figure of 8 million units “is equivalent to total annual phone shipments this year by Google,” it said.

This increase in iPhone orders is reportedly courtesy the most-affordable iPhone of the year — iPhone 11 model. The report also suggests the same for the iPhone 11 Pro. Apple CEO Tim Cook told recently told German daily Bild earlier this week that iPhone sales were off to a “very strong start” and he couldn’t be happier with the iPhone 11 launch.

A person that is said to be familiar with the matter was quoted by the report saying, “This autumn is so far much busier than we expected. Previously, Apple was quite conservative about placing orders. After the increase, prepared production volume for the iPhone 11 series will be higher compared to last year.”

Last week, US-based financial services company Cowen raised the production forecasts of iPhones for the third calendar quarter to 47 million, which is higher than the initial 44 million that was estimated last month. Besides Cowen, JP Morgan has also raised the expected number of iPhone units that will be sold by 1 million for the September quarter and by 3 million for the December quarter.
